A couple of weeks back I bought myself a new camera – the Canon EOS 450D. It’s been a long time since I’ve used an SLR, pretty much since film went out of fashion and I got a digital compact.
(By the way I extracted the final film from my 1970’s manual SLR the other day. I can’t remember how long ago it was that I last used the beast so it will be interesting to see what turns up when I develop the film.)
Even as a pretty amateur photographer in my teens I used to be able to get some damn good pictures out of my manual SLR, maybe 4 or 5 a roll – but they were really good, as opposed to a whole bunch of mediocre ones from the film point and click I also had at the time.
I’ve taken my new digital SLR out on a couple of trips, done a bit of playing and gotten some photos I liked. I also got a whole load of photos I didn’t like but the beauty of a digital camera with a huge memory card is the ability to take many and delete later.
